Invisible Forces in the Darkness of Night.
Given the keys to the gallery at midnight, Fred Kroh (photographer/videographer) and I transformed the gallery into a photographic studio. Using one hand held focused light I moved around the works projecting shadows.
The video created turns the exhibited work into a performance, the moving light, projecting voluminous moving shadows. The images and shadows projected link directly to large scaled installations I have executed in the past. Working with the four dimensionality of the material glass and the three dimensional shadows it casts upon a two dimensional plane. I am inspired engage my audience in this inter-dimensional language.
This evening we spent at the gallery was pivotal. I am excited about human interaction with the work. The light moving with human movement, animating the projection, interacting and enlivening the work, which would otherwise be an inanimate installation.
